Go to settings > about phone > and tap "android version" more than 5 times for a secret picture

Quick Reboot

If your device locks up, rather than having to remove the battery,

press and hold the power button for 8-10 seconds. The device will then reboot automatically.

Rebooting in Safe Mode
If you are having lots of problems with Force Closes and cant get to any menus because of it.

You can reboot in safe mode and then tackle the problem.

Power off the phone. Power on the phone and when you see the Splash screen (SGS2 Logo)

hit menu fast repeatedly until you get to the home screen. If it worked you will see safe mode in the bottom left corner.

To exit safe mode just reboot normally.

Quick search

Hold down the menu key (not the home button, the capacitive key to the left) to enable quick searching.

Works on the home screens to search google, will allow for searching in the marketplace, youtube, messaging etc.

This works on all Samsung Android handsets without a dedicated search key.

Quick Mute

If you have forgotten to put your phone on silent, and it starts making a noise at the worst possible moment,

don't fumble for a suitable key sequence to turn off sound,

simply place a finger over the external speaker slots which you will find if you turn the phone over,

at the bottom right corner. Roughly behind the virtual "menu" button when viewed from the front.

Of course, just flipping it onto its face often does the trick too (if it's an incoming call for example),

but it's useful to have a backup trick that can be executed quickly in a tight spot.

Brightness Adjustment Shortcut

On the Homescreen, long hold on the Notification Bar,

then slide left or right motion to adjust the brightness.

* SAVING BATTERY *

Settings > wireless & networks > Mobile Networks > Use 2G Networks Only

Disable Packet Data Connection

Go to Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > and toggle Use Packet Data to off

Disable Background data,

Settings > Accounts and Sync > deselect the checkmark for Background Data.

Settings > Display > Set auto brighness to OFF.

And just push the brightness slider right down.

Stop using Live Wallpapers, and use BLACK BACKGROUND on all of your Homscreens.

because how brighter and more colorfull the more pixels are used, this then affects battery life.

Applications > Task Mangaer > Close All applications

WiFi Sleep Policy

You can save on wifi eating up your battery by specifying a Sleep Mode policy.

Menu > Settings > Wireless and network > WiFi settings > Menu > Advanced > WiFi Sleep policy

Here you can select when to turn off wifi temporarily:

1. When screen turns off

2. Never when plugged in

3. Never

For me, I will just turn it on, when needed.

Learn to charge properly!

There is no need to always top off the battery to a full charge whenever you get a chance,

rather use the battery to its fullest as in draining it from your usage then charging it back up several times.

This is more of a maintenance thing for your battery to establish itself sort of and it’ll do better for your Galaxy S2 in the long run

* MENU & HOMESCREEN *

If there is no box, then you can't re-size it.

Pinch on homescreen to get homescreens overview,

from there you can either skip to a particular homscreen

keep hitting the menu and back until you leave the service mode menu.

You will also note you can change volume settings for other things like bluetooth, head sets, video call etc.

Note: this is not permanent, if you turn off the phone it resets back to the default levels .

Boosting GPS lock & connection

Settings > Location and security > ensure the the 3 boxes under My location are ticked.

Now download and install, free from the Market, GPS Status.

Remove the sim card from your phone and reboot it.

Open GPS Status (preferably outdoors with a clear view of the sky) and select Menu > Tools > Manage A-GPS state > Reset

Now select Menu > Tools > Manage A-GPS state > Download

Now just leave it for as long as it takes to get a solid lock on at least 6 Sat's (preferably more... 9->11 would be good).

This can take 20 min's or more but be patient,

When you have achieved this then select GPS Status Menu > Settings > GPS & Sensors > Auto-download AGPS data >

choose how often you would like the data to be updated (1 hour -> 3 days... I have mine set for 6 hours) >

tick the 3 boxes (GPS required/Lock to GPS speed/Filter the GPS speed, if required) and choose your Sensor filtering.

Now power off your phone and replace Sim card and reboot.

Please ensure you have no Task Managers or anything that will close or interfere with this app.

Once rebooted you should find an improvement in accuracy and speed of your GPS.

Update:

GpsFix, free from the Market, can decrease your time to fix by increasing the time that GPS/AGPS receiver is turned on.

There's 16GB of internal storage, of which approx 11.5GB is available for user data such as music, video, file storage etc.

There's also 2GB of system memory, which is the default installation location for apps.

So on a new handset you'll have approx 13.5GB total storage available, plus the option of adding up to 64GB via the microSD memory card slot.

Clearing Cache

For problems with a specific app on the phone, try clearing the cache:

Go to menu > settings > applications > > clear cache.

Then turn off the phone, pull the battery, put it back in and then turn the phone back on.

It seems that occasionally the cache/data stored by apps can get corrupted and cause problems

Spare parts plus+.apk

Go to the market and get an app called 'Spare parts plus+'.

This is a huge enhancement of your settings!

You can change transition/window animation speed, wifi sleep policy to save battery and much more.

Noled.apk

Get an app called 'noled'. With this you can get low power notifications on your screen when the phone is locked.

The SGSII has an AMOLED screen which means that Black things use no battery at all

so this app displays a tiny colored dot on your black screen when you get an email or text or whatever you set it to.

You can customize for them to be different colors.

This is a replacement for the LED notification light that many phones have but the SGSII lacks.

Android System Info.apk

System info? download this in the market it will tell you everything

Any Cut.apk

It lets u create any shortcut you want for most of your phones functions.
